Organize Your Bag, Change Your Life!

The contents of a woman's bag (and it's arrangement) can reveal a lot.

A couple weeks ago, I was doing some online browsing of this season's handbags. A bag has to go with your life. It needs to help you. Improve you. Or else it really just ends up being, well, baggage. And who needs that?
So while considering the size bag I would need to weather my fabulously creative, everyday, adventurous, but hopelessly casual life, I went into my closet and got out the bag I've been using for the last 6 or so years (a Rebecca Minkoff MAB) and dumped out all the contents...
What originally began as a simple gauge of what type of bag to get next, ended up being a much needed emergency spontaneous bag makeover. The photo above is literally what is typically seen in my bag.

But..but I'm such an organized minimalist.
What happened??

Fabric samples and measuring tape from daily fabric trips for clients, cards and cash here and there, tissues, dog treats and tic tacs scattered with loose parking change. Not to mention a random, clearly not meant for travel Nesquik bottle of syrup... But let me explain.

Because I own with purpose (meaning I do not buy random stuff I don't need), all of this stuff, despite being in disarray, is necessary. For one reason or another. So instead of upgrading my bag just yet, I decided to upgrade my habits first. Meaning, I'm not going to buy another $500+ bag to open it up and have it look like the scene above okay? I will rather have it look like this breath of fresh air below:

Chocolate covered raisins from my favorite cafe/patisserie, Bottega Louis - instead of the Nesquik travesty. If I'm going to indulge, why not have something special? Blotting paper by Paul & Joe instead of the balled up tissue paper. Dog treats are now kept in a black cinch sac I found from an old pair of earrings. (yay! my mints won't taste like dog treats!) My samples are neatly safety-pinned and my cards and cash are pinned by a Cufflinks Inc. money clip (I hate wallets). Tic tacs are upgraded to mini Altoids in a tin and I splurged and bought some herby perfume scented deodorant by Acqua di Parma. Not shown are my keys, measuring tape, hand sanitizer and lady necessities which are all kept in pockets/compartments for easy use. Ahhhhhh.

With my cute little treats all classy and organized, I have a much better idea of what my next bag will be.
More on that later!

Beach Surf to Rooftop Turf

SURF

Last year, I decided to indulge in the creative, resort side of swimwear.  This year, the theme has been all.about.comfort.  In more ways than one.  I want to be comfortable in my clothes enough to forget about them and enjoy my life.  Especially when I'm at the beach.

A Romper in Blush

For Spring and Summer, I've been searching high and low for a few rompers to romp around in for the next 6 months...  My one and only lil altered vintage romper has been wearing down to the seams for the past 2 years so I thought my Tiny Closet was due for a bit of a refresh.

It's been surprisingly hard to find a romper.  Or maybe I'm just surprisingly picky about rompers.  I suppose I shouldn't take it so seriously, I mean it's Spring and Summer wear - the easiest fashion of the year.  But since I'm showing a lot of skin, I need something that's well-fit and flattering.

And I did manage to spy one oh-so-cute romper while passing through Santee Alley with a bestie who was in town.  After trying it on, I think we made a good call.

It was the wispy light blush color that grabbed me first.  And then the jumbo scalloped edges.  Cute, simple and unique like I like my rompers to be.  Wearing a one piece is always a statement.  No matter how small it may be.  So since it's the focal point, it's got to be chic and individual.

romper: Santee Alley / shoes: CMG / bag: Dooney & Bourke / earrings: Francesca's Closet

Also, last weekend while romping it up, I got a haircut.  I've been yearning for a chic, tidy bob for ages but never thought it was possible because of my natural hair texture.  However, with my new hair routine of sporting more defined curls, I realized I can easily wear a curly bob!  So, before meeting my dad for brunch on Saturday, I got the scissors and my husband helped me cut a nice cropped wedge.  Ah, a fresh new S/S cut!

Here's to a fabulous beginning to the week!
Hope you're having a great Monday :)   Check out some of the other rompers on my personal favorites list:

A Tiny S/S Wardrobe

With the terrible weather we've had lately, I've been keeping myself inside, bouncing between my sewing machine and my computer.
While the rain continues to pour, I am getting totally inspired and ramped up for Spring and Summer!

It's been a full year since I moved to L.A. and after going through all the seasons, I can now predict each (predictable) season going forward.
It's much easier now as I think up a new arsenal of pieces - plus, I can finally implement a new routine for my Tiny Closet...

I'm reading about it more and more and I thought I'd adopt the concept for myself.  That concept being that with each new item I add to my wardrobe, I will donate an old item that I'm falling out of love with.  So each new article of clothing will replace an older article of clothing.  Anyway, I thought it would be fun to show how collecting a few pieces through each season can still keep my collection small while maintaining endless options for styling!

Starting with Spring/Summer seasons:

I picked 9 important items to be enjoyed mainly during the Spring and Summer of 2014 (and to be replaced if necessary with new items in the Spring and Summer and of 2015):

1. skirt
2. pants
3. shorts
4. a dress
5 & 6. two pairs of shoes
7. top
8. knit tee
9. jacket

I planned all items to be able to be coordinated with each other.  Each piece is simple, feminine and reflecting Spring.
Equally important, I wanted each piece to able to be worn casual or cocktail :)
I chose clothing from Asos.com and Zara for my example just because the price range and styles of both are pretty broad and cover a lot of different occasions.  Next, I made 4 outfits out of the skirt, pants, shorts and skirt.  Check it out!

The LWD...dressed down
Layered with a chambray and cropped twill jacket, I thought I'd pair this dress down even further with a pair of dove grey high tops.

Even though I created just one outfit revolving around this Zara dress, it can be worn at least a few more different ways just with the other 8 items alone!
Not counting the rest of a complete wardrobe.
 Pastel Biker Pants
I love asymmetric tees - especially when they're paired with skin tight pants.  The dropped back tee from Asos goes perfectly with a pair of sky blue biker pants from Zara's Spring line.  The cropped jacket from Zara will go with everything!
Statement Skirt
This Zara skirt is so versatile!  It can even be worn with just the cropped jacket buttoned up as a cropped top.  Chambray and twill are naturals together so it only seemed right to have them in a Spring/Summer collection.  Since they're also very simple items, they can be put with statement pieces like this skirt.

Dress Shorts
These fancy asymmetric shorts are a refreshing design and again, can be dressed up and dressed down so easily.  To wear the dropped back tee with these shorts is fun and artistic looking.  Lots of drape!  The cropped jacket is again finding its way into another ensemble - as well as those trusty high tops.

So like I mentioned before, the number of ensembles is surprisingly plentiful when it comes to just 9 items to work with.   Having a visual like this helps me maintain simplicity and my minimalist ways while I begin to refresh my closet.

Hopefully it will give you some ideas as well of just how many ways you can rock the same things.  Especially when you're shopping for new things!

Swim Style Mix & Match: Part II

The only time I've ever worn a two-piece swimsuit in my adult life was back when I was visiting Boracay in the Philippines.  I had been exercising a sizable amount at the time and wanted to show off my upgraded physique.  The suit wasn't necessarily meant to be as stylish as it was meant to be skimpy!

Normally, I feel most fashionable and classy when wearing more clothing than just two itsy bisty pieces but since the Lanvin one piece I wanted was considerably outside my reach (it's a shame too...I would've rocked it, humph!)  This Summer, I decided to upgrade the pieces I already owned.  I kept the teeny tiny bottoms but found a more compelling topper:

a Bollywood bustier.
Take that, Lanvin.

I had been spying this sequined bustier for a while at one of the many costume design shops I pass by in L.A.'s downtown fashion district.  I didn't buy it for the longest time as I just couldn't figure out where the heck I would ever wear it....  I soon realized though, as I began planning my Summer swimwear, such a glitzy glam top would be absolute perfection for laying out and dressing up poolside ensembles.

I also used the remnant fabric that was left over from when I designed a muumuu/swim cover up and tied it over my shoulders for a shorter, wispier cover up.  The original muumuu is below.

coverup: The Tiny Closet Collection / bustier: Perial Company / bottoms: Aqua / earrings: Karla Deras for Roman Luxe

As the second installment of my mix and match style adventures, I am loving all the gold!  I was excited to put on Karla Deras for Roman Luxe's gold and lapis earrings again.  They were fitting for the occasion yesterday evening as I melted into the hot tub watching the sun go down.

I'm just getting started with this mix and match show and tell so
Visit me again next week for another look into my experiments with swimwear!

Have a great weekend :)

The Neighborhood Park

Our neighborhood has a brand spanking new park.  After opening just days ago, Theo and I decided to change up our early evening stroll and check it out!

I also decided to change up the usual stylings of my chevron mini skirt and dress it way down.  This time I immersed the skirt in an unbuttoned chambray, a loose tank and converse.  To take even more focus away from the skirt (seeing it less of a statement piece and more of of an accent), I layered on chunky accessories:
some beaded bangles, a wood cuff and my all-time favorite coconut necklace.

Yesterday I wore Loreal's nail lacquer, "Not a Cloud In Sight" blue.  So fun!
This ensemble was actually inspired by a similar outfit I wore here with my new Aztec print pencil skirt.

I'm seeing that a comfy worn chambray really works wonderfully at the task of playing down bright prints.
Also, bright nail colors are perfection with these types of prints too!  And a superb accessory.

Our new, gorgeous park is nestled in between three buildings and now, my new favorite place to go.

We have a few big parks in downtown but none as close and as neighborhood-like.  For those of you who don't know L.A.'s downtown, it's not quite a community just yet.  After being abandoned for decades, it's only lately been growing into a new metropolis, made from ancient bank lofts and warehouses now filling up with artsy fartsy transplants like me and Theo.  We come from all over the world (none of us actually being California natives) to live in our quiet lofty spaces, do art and wear sunglasses so this new park is certainly changing the dynamic and making us all a bit warmer.

Like a neighborhood :)

chambray: Shades of Grey / slip worn as a tank: Catherine Malandrino / skirt: The Tiny Closet Collection / shoes: Converse / accessories: bangles were for charity
cuff & necklace were bought in Philippines

More Gloom of June

While the weather has been brightening, the mornings are still guh-looomy!  Not an ounce of blue in the sky until the afternoon.
Of course I came up with another June Gloom look to meet these rare days.

Showing off some leg like in my last Gloom post, I realize I naturally gravitate towards high/low ensembles.  High hems and full coverage on top, that is.

Always a good balance I say.

Since I live so close to FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) and the Fashion District for that matter, the ladies in my building tend to look pretty cute and stylish.  On Saturday nights when I go downstairs in pajamas and moccasins to walk my dog, I see this type of bodycon dress a lot in the elevator.  It's all very L.A. yes, with a cut out leg opening, skin tight woven rayon/spandex and a simple, streamlined design (usually in a solid).  It's edgy, modern and urban aaaand clubby!

Anyway, the dress you see I actually bought a year ago for a business trip that I never ended up photographing.  Originally when bought, the dress was evening formal with layered draping.  Certainly NOT for clubbing.  That is until Sunday morning when I cut off all the draping to reveal this minimal, sexy number.
Repurposed and re-worn with some gritty boots and leather!

Excuse me, "leathah".

leather jacket: Muubaa / dress: Asos.com / boots: Deisel / sunnies: RayBan

More JG outfits coming at ya before the month is through!  But before that, let's take a look at at some minimal swimwear options for Summer, shall we?

Visit tomorrow to check out some Tiny swim style :)

Missing Beach Life

Some of you may remember my lil stint as a beach bum.
A stylish beach bum :)

Yes, far away on the other side of the Pacific, on the tiny island of Boracay, I became acquainted with my very first pair of harem pants.
These were so long, I mainly wore them as a jumper.  A harem jumper!

Now in L.A. I am still rocking this airy one piece.  In fact, I realize this is the exact same outfit I wore when I first introduced them to my closet.
At the time I was barefoot...  This time, I think some tan heels are a seamless upgrade, yes?

heels: Aldo
- all other items were collected from street stands

When I found these harem pants, it really was the beginning of a wonderful friendship.  These voluminous pants have been my besties going on two years now.
My adoration for the style also spawned five more pairs of harems (surprisingly, way over the national average) and, contrary to style rule books everywhere,
harem pants are definitely a basic staple in my wardrobe.

Just goes to show how much you can learn about your own taste and style by being adventurous with clothes and not being afraid to love what you love!

Style Vs. Clothing

A lot of people have been asking me lately just how I keep a Tiny Closet.  Well, in the beginning I threw out everything I didn't love.
And since, at the time I didn't have the means to shop, I had to make the most of what I had left.  But that's not really what has caused me to maintain being Tiny.

From years of shopping and owning countless cluttered closets, the most important thing I've learned is:

Clothes won't give you style.

As soon as I learned that, I wasn't so interested in shopping all the time.

I mean, shopping is amazing...  But nowadays, I know what I'm shopping for.  When you know what you're looking for, you tend not to buy the wrong things.   You also tend not buy things that won't last. My Tiny Closet is handpicked by me, each piece carefully added to my little collection of only things I adore.  But that wasn't always the case...

When consulting clients, Rachel Zoe would always ask who they wanted to look like.  The purpose of the question wasn't so that she could copy the look for the client, but so that she could see the kind of essence the client wanted to possess for themselves and exude it to others.

Boom.

When I read that, it changed my world.  I quickly recalled all of my style icons.  I pulled up their photos and studied why I liked them so much.  And Zoe was right.  The iconic styles I'd assumed I needed to copy in order to achieve them myself had nothing to do with the clothes they were wearing.  It had only to do with them.
The clothing merely reinforced their personalities and traits.

So thaaaat's why my closets were full of discarded clothing!  The clothes weren't really for me in the first place.

people.com

It wasn't Ashley Olsen's endless clothing collection that I wanted to have per se.  It was her immense class, confidence and her effortlessness that I wanted to have for myself.

karlascloset.com

It wasn't Karla's tiny figure and countless costumy looks I relished over.  It was her keen intuition and unparalleled creativity I was addicted to.

instyle.com / stylebalzer.com / vibevixen.com

And it wasn't Solange's fabulously colorful aesthetic that I daydreamed about.  It was her unapologetic eccentricity
and her laser focus on surrounding herself around only things she loves that I wanted to emulate.

If I or anyone else for that matter wore the outfits of Ashley, Karla or Solange, it wouldn't be the same.  The vibe would be different.  Because I'm different.  So I decided to seek out the various qualities that I loved in those women and create the traits within myself.  Clothing eventually came from that in baby steps.

To me, clothing is the last delicious step in presenting the woman and not the first.  I think that mentality is really why my wardrobe is so small :)

Much To Do In a Mini

Tying up loose ends before my *big day, I hurried around all Tuesday morning and afternoon, cleaning, shipping, grocery shopping and getting to the bottom of the latest scenes in Game of Thrones (not Rose!!).   Digging through my leggings box (I so need a dresser) I again, came across my denim cut off mini skirt,
an item I bought on a careless whim with a large gift card I received in a contest.

So instead of wearing my ritual leggings, hoodie, and Pumas to sprint through my to do list, I decided to girl it up a bit and swap my leggings for this denim mini I am always overlooking.

Oddly enough, I never really know how to dress a denim mini skirt.  I have a knee-jerk reaction with anything revealing or "mini" to downplay, downplay so -
I guess it was only natural to put this skirt with some running shoes and a modern hoodie.

So instead of permeating "laundry day" vibes while waiting in line at the post office, I felt cute, sporty and feminine.  Put together, yes?

denim skirt: Paper Denim / hoodie: Asos.com / shoes: Puma

About my big day, *as you probably already know, I frequent the Garment District all. the. time..   I am thankful that I live a glorious short walk away and because of that, the fabric stores are my second home.  So when I was finally offered a job at one of my favorite stores, I took it!

Working in textiles, crafts and sewing, I will now be immersed daily at one of my most favorite places in the universe.  Starting today!  So wish me luck and fun :)

I've got some awesome new projects coming up so keep visiting!!

Avant Garde

Attempting to push the boundaries of my normal styling tendencies, I decided to restyle some favorite pieces of mine into a look unfamiliar.

I think I succeeded.

An unfamiliar aesthetic made up of many of my favorite looks:
androgyny, men's formal, minimalism, Eastern, exotic.

It was a bit hard to keep a straight face while walking around downtown in this yesterday but I have to say, it's now one of my favorite ensembles.  I felt like Charlotte Rampling!  Just so exquisitely sophisticated and mysterious and super cool.

It's outfits like these that when looking in the mirror, I see my future self.  The person I envision myself to dress like later in life, when I'm peaking and at the top of my game.  Clothes can really be interesting in that respect because they have the power to influence our behavior and state of mind.

mens shirt: PINK / harem pants: Bottega Veneta / flats: Trotters / sunnies: Rayban

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I am incredibly drawn to this weird look I've concocted.  In fact, I need to create more of these looks because it's here to stay.

FAQ

Throughout the course of The Tiny Closet, I've been asked a lot about my style, my inspiration, my hair, where I come from...
It's been incredibly flattering just to be asked my opinions and thoughts on matters, serious or silly.

But it occurred to me that I've never shared these questions and answers here.  So I compiled some of my favorite questions to share on my blog.  With you!

1.
Pelumi from Care For Your Hair asked:

Where do you draw style inspiration from?

Hands down, I draw inspiration from Solange Knowles, Ashley Olsen and Karla's Closet.  I'm obsessed with all three and no one does it better than those girls.
For eye candy, I frequently visit Jak&Jil and Vogue.com

2.
Would you say your style has changed since you've been natural?

I thought it would have to since I'd always wore my hair stick straight with blunt bangs.  But it didn't have to change.  However, it inevitably did change though as soon as I became comfortable with my natural hair.  As soon as that happened, I stopped being afraid and self conscious about everything else about me.
So my style became more bold and unique and unapologetic.

3.
One piece of advice you would give someone thinking of going natural:

It all depends on why you're going natural.  If it's to stop being dependent on chemicals than have fun, get to know your natural hair and don't take it too seriously.  At the end of the day, it's just hair.  You can always relax it, weave it, or cut it again :)  Regardless of the reason, I think a big tip would be PATIENCE.  Patience with yourself and your expectations.  Forget about expectations.  Have nothing but love and curiosity for your natural hair and try not to make it be anything more than what it is.

4.
Priscilla, Journalism Major at Temple University asked:

Do you consider yourself a member of the "natural hair movement? And if so, how do you personally define this movement?

I think what is currently happening with African American hair particularly in the U.S. is rightly called a "movement".  Wearing one's hair in its natural state (curly) has really become a progressive thought and realization.  These ideas are being hatched and passed around by thousands of specifically black women more and more everyday through pictures, blogs and videos so at this point, regardless of reason or message, any black woman who doesn't straighten her hair is still part of the natural hair movement just by default simply because she's seen as an inspiration and a beacon to others who consider themselves very much apart of the message.  So yes, I'm apart of it regardless of whether or not I want to be.

5.
Reiko of God's Favorite Shoes asked:

Your wedding dress/photos were phenomenal... How would you describe your hubby’s style? Do/did you have a great influence on his overall look?

Thank you!!  I swooned at Theo's look too!  He said he wanted to wear skinny jeans at the wedding and I was like, whuuuttt? But I didn't debate it and he ended up looking amazing.    His style is very English and French with a pinch of hip hop.  Anything English though he adores.  He has a few tweed blazers, skinny slacks, lots of colorful socks, and scads of button ups.
His stores are Opening Ceremony, Shades of Grey, AllSaints and John Varvatos.

Truth is, his style is super fly and he dresses better than I do!  He used to dress me entirely and then I got the hang of it.  I am very much influenced by his innate style choices.

6.
You see a lady looking fabulous. Do you go out of your way to tell her or just stare at her from afar? Would you ask her where she got something that she is wearing?

I see beautiful, fabulous girls all the time!  It warms my heart when a girl looks like she put effort into her ensemble so I usually give her a quick passing comment that her outfit/shoes/hair rocks.  I never ask where they got their clothes, it's not ladylike.  But I make sure they know that someone has noticed by telling them they look fab.
Compliments from strangers feel great to receive!

7.
Tashira of Politics & Fashion asked:

Where are you from?  How has your background shaped your identity and style of dress?

I grew up in a wealthy little city in Washington (Bellevue).  I was surrounded by white people and knew one other black person, pretty much my whole life up until 20.  There was an extreme lack of diversity and I left as soon as I was financially able haha!  I moved to Boston, then New York and then back to Washington (Seattle) and my identity formed through that experience - through me and my observations.  Fashion wise, Bellevue is conservative and, for the most part, people there conform to the micro trends and don't deviate from that.  It's the suburbs ya know?  It was fine but not my speed at all and definitely didn't shape my style of dress.  I came out of the womb wanting to be comfortable with an adoration for heels.  That has never changed.  My background stopped influencing me years and years ago!  Growing up as the only black/Cuban/Puerto Rican/Spanish/French girl, I made my own rules and found my own style.  I couldn't look to anyone else so I taught myself.

8.
What's the story behind your blog?  How has it evolved?

The Tiny Closet was formed out of boredom and as a tool to find a way to deal with not having a lot of money anymore.  I wasn't working and therefor, my normal activities had come to a screeching hault and I just stayed at home all day.  I had gotten laid off from a well paying job and I'd grown VERY used to shopping all the time.  I bought clothes I would wear only once and then throw out, I just loved fashion and style and wanted it all in a very indulgent, abundant, non-creative way.  Being without a job and having time to think, I realized I needed to have more quality in my life. For example, to get a job I actually loved!  To have a life that meant something to me and no one else - and also, since I had such a strong passion for style and clothing, I wanted to wear clothes I loved and only loved.  So, with those resolutions, I started purging everything in my life that didn't make sense.  Including my closet.  And it became very Tiny!! LOL!  And since that depressed me at first, thinking I seemingly had "nothing to wear", I decided to get very creative with it since I wouldn't be shopping for something new everyday and I recorded my endeavors with this blog.  Tada :)

This answer is incredibly long but I really did want to take the time to explain because The Tiny Closet has become a lifestyle for me now.  Women think they need so much just to stay in trend and feel like they have enough and I learned that you really don't need that much at all.  Especially since fashion is an art form, I treat it as such.  It's not about abundance and mindless buying.  So even though I am not in the same boat I was, I still don't shop a lot and I make the best of what I have over and over again in new ways.

*******************************************

so I'm back at the sewing machine again and cannot wait to wear some of the easy breezy dresses I've concocted.  With this sudden 85 degree weather, I can't finish them fast enough!

See ya back here tomorrow :)

My Photographer...

I get asked a LOT what kind of camera I use.  I'm flattered by the question and it makes me happy to hear when people have been inspired by some of my photos...  And even though the questions about my camera are simple to answer, the photos are not as simple as as they seem.  It's not just the camera.

It's the photographer.  It's his work.

Meet the man behind The Tiny Closet.
.theo.

Though I am the center of his universe, I am definitely not the center of his universe :)

In between shooting actual professionals, he's found the time to help his lovable, quirky wife with her blog.
But as the founder of Media Design Elements, he works in bringing out the best in actors, models, dancers, businesses and even families and has done it for years.

Sometimes I forget his own work is completely different from that of my lil closeted world...

Demo Reel from Theo Macabeo on Vimeo.

So where the case of The Tiny Closet is concerned, yes, I wear the clothes, I write the words, I give the opinions, but!  ... none of those things would exist if it wasn't for this man, his
Canon 5d Mark 2 and his incredible eye for catching life and making it still and beautiful.

The Drawing Board

After catching a matinee, I hurried back home to get to work.  During the last bit of the weekend, I've been slaving away at finally trying to see my designs and sewing patterns
come to life

Since then, I've hardly come up for air, let alone leave the house.  Style wise, I just went with it as Theo snapped a few shots of me tethered to my sewing machine.

maxi top: All Saints / waterfall skirt: Forever21

I am a huge fan of frontal side slits a la Jessica Rabbit.  That's actually the only reason I entertain waterfall skirt - so that I can wear them sideways for some drama!

I love wearing drapey, loose clothing while at home.  Doesn't everybody though?  But also, lounging at home can be so...luxurious and sexy!
So clothing with drape just adds to the sumptuous emotion of it all.

While I draft and re-draft, I am excited to show the semi-finished products of my labor.  Really, I'm working toward a lil collection.  Perhaps a Tiny Collection??  hmmm.  Haha :)

Until then!
and thank you for visiting!!

A WS Woman

A couple years ago, I was very lucky to meet and become friends with Whitney of Whitney Stern Jewelry Design.  A particularly magical woman.  And just like this Seattle-based jewelry designer, I immediately found her pieces to be one of a kind and abundant with creativity and beauty.
Whitney Stern actually collaborated with my husband in designing my engagement ring (from scratch) and it is still the most complimented accessory I've ever owned.  And it should be right?  Ha, but it actually is!  Anyway, a couple weeks ago, in the eye of my wedding storm, when I was asked to tag along with Theo to be in WS Jewelry Design's photo shoot kicking off their new exclusive line, I jumped at the chance to be apart of such an awesome process and...model her jewelry!!

I'm definitely a girly girl and I love my girlfriends so meeting the other handpicked women who modeled for WS that day was a wonderful experience.

Since Theo was working with Whitney that day, I wasn't able to focus the camera on me for Tiny Closet records but I did take a few Instagrammies.  The pro photos will be coming soon but this will have to do for now.

My favorite items of WS design is the rings.  Guuhhhh, they're exquisite!  And when one of the models was texting between shots, I had to snap a pic of her adorned fingers.

I've never worn so much jewelry in my life and it was amazing!  The shoot really inspired me to push the boundaries of fashion jewelry and wear it to the max.  Rest assured, you will see this inspiration materialize one of these days.

We shot in one of my favorites: gorgeous Italian restaurant, Barolo.  With dripping wax candles, ornate glass chandeliers and curtains and mirrors everywhere, it was quite sexy and dramatic.  If you visit Seattle, be sure to go there.  Either with your girlfriends or a special guy - it's perfect.

I'm incredibly excited to view the launch coming up and to have been a part of a growing national brand!  From Lucky to O to the New York Times, WS Jewelry Design has been buzzing with press but her work rings truest to me here:

"Whitney creates jewelry for women of the world who continually inspire her designs. A WS Woman follows her heart and chases her dreams. She is not only a conscious consumer, but a dedicated world citizen. Whitney’s vision is to create meaningful and unique products that help empower these women to recognize their individual and shared potential. She is committed to improving local and overseas communities through sharing profits with charities and by engaging in sustainable and ethical business practices." - whitneystern.com

Check out WS Jewelry Design and fall in love!

And speaking of love.... Wedding post coming on Friday!!!  I know, I can't wait either :)
