Harem Pants Built To Last

With the Style Bloggers of Color conference finished with fond memories, I returned from Miami and I'm catching up on some much needed sleep!

My last post on my maxi that won't quit reminded me another item that always just seems to work in a myriad of ways.
My very first pair of harem pants:

jumper: street stand in Philippines / jacket: American Eagle / high tops: Santee Alley / bag: Banana Republic / earrings: All Saints

I wore these all throughout the Summer and even to bed but I'm finding, with this mild Fall, I can wear them layered as a casual jumper with my high tops.
A new ensemble for me in casual wear because it's easy, fast, cozy and kinda cool looking.

Even though this is my favorite ensemble to date with these pants, here's a few other ways I've worn them:

Getting back to sewing and designing for Fall and Winter, I am happy to be back to my usual tricks and schedule.

And for those of you who were not able to attend my workshop on blog photography,
I am excited to say that I will be posting a video of my presentation on my blog!
So keep your eyes out for the post!

This is 30

It's my birthday.
My 30th birthday, to be exact and I have been waiting for this day since I was 19 years old.

Why?  Hm, well let's see....

I've always imagined my thirties to be the more evolved, improved, more attractive version of my twenties.  As I suspected, on my 20th birthday, my twenties did end up being messy, painfully rookie, chock full of mind-boggling growth and awwwwkkkwwwaaaaard.   Whew!  Let's have a do-over, shall we?  Enter my thirties.  The perfect do-over I think.

Yes, yes, so I survived the terrible tumultuous twenties and more importantly, picked up a few special treasures and charms
throughout the decade to thoroughly enjoy for my thirties.  A few of which being:

Self Respect
The art of saying no.  Refinery29 listed this as one of the most important things your 30s teaches you.  It think I got a head start and I plan to master it before the end of this decade.

Passion
I finally found something I truly, adoringly believe in.  It's the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thing I muse over before falling asleep:
Style, fashion and designing clothing.  Took me 30 years to find it and now I'm fixin' to have me some fun!!

Girlfriends
Where would I be without each and every one of them?  If I did anything right during my twenties, it was solidifying some amazing homegirls.
My absolutely fabulous wine cellar of women friends just keep getting better and even more valuable with age.

My Man
He is an incredible force of miraculous love, inspiration and laughter.  I can't imagine a better life than the one I have by his side.

So blah blah blah, on to what I am wearing!  What better day to wear my tutu, wouldn't you say?

It was starting to sulk in the back of my Tiny Closet after I wore it in this post and as I was pondering what to wear for my first day of being 30, I realized - girl you better wear that tutu!

Of course, in Tiny style, I chose my trusty Catherine Malandrino eyelet dress and my cropped AE denim jacket.
Two items I have paired with numerous other pieces and are very much adored staples.

So!  For my birthday, I have one humble request for you:
as many of you are already in your 30s and 40s,  I would LOVE to hear what you have to say about it!!

Any advice on entering well-equipped for my 30s, yall?  Any words of warning?  Let me know your secret!

And as always, have an absolutely wonderful week.  Hope you enjoyed your holiday weekend :)

Starting Small

I am growing more and more excited for the future these days...

Wednesday was a big day for me and marked the small beginnings of something new.

I can't wait to divulge but for now I'll just talk about my favorite casual dress by James Perse!

denim jacket: American Eagle Outfitters / dress: James Perse / oxfords: CMG

I think this is my favorite, least fussy way to wear this dress, actually.  You may remember, I wore it here with boots and here with heels.  I absolutely love it with a cropped denim jacket and oxfords though.  No belt, no necklace, no other accessories than some sunnies - like true Tiny style :)

Ramen Time! And I Wore My Harem Pants.

Since I can't afford to have amazing ramen everyday, Theo rations our visits.  In the past, we have orchestrated entire trips to Canada just to sit down for some really really good ramen (Seattle really needs to get some good ramen houses btw) but now that we're a 10 minute walk from Tokyo Town here in L.A., I'm kinda goin' bonkers, guys.

So I decided to save a few memories of our new ritual - without robbing other restaurant patrons of their private meal time - and I snapped a couple pics.  Pics of the place we go, the noodles we eat and my obviously unkempt eyebrows.  Sorry about the last one  :-/

I love high-lo layering - meaning, my cropped denim jacket with my maxi tee is a casual duo that go perfectly together.  My Bottega Veneta harem pants are a delicious go-to as I loves me harems.  Did you know?

So happy happy Friday!  Do something indulgent today and love it!
I'm preparing to do the same :)

See ya back here on Monday!
