Summer In a Flash

Wednesday was super sunny...as per usual.  I love that I can say that now.  Ahhh.
Anyway though, yesterday was hottt, actually and I wasn't really prepared for that type of warmth.

Preparing to meet Theo in the Arts District, I rummaged through a bag of clothing I've been putting together to donate to Goodwill and pulled out this old polka dotted silk crepe skirt.

Decided to wear it as a halter dress.

In 10 mins, I had sewn a grosgrain ribbon to each end of the skirt opening, threw on my ultra comfy, casual lace bustier and stowed my booties away in my bag for later.

I was ready to go out!

So, yesterday was a reality check for me.  I realize I am definitely not as prepared as I thought for the upcoming Summer months... Looks like I'm finally going to have to go...

shopping!!!

And y'all know I don't shop a lot.  I actually don't even remember the last time I went shopping for new clothes... I definitely like to play out the longevity and see the potential in the clothing I already have - hence the Tiny Closet.  But don't get me wrong, I love to shop.  In fact, I love it way more than I should, it's an absolutely delicious past time.  So... with this new climate and all...  I think it's time.

Don't you agree?

I Should Wear More White

Chatting with PishPoshPerfect the other day, we were talking about colors and what significance they have.  I commented that I always wear white on my birthday because it makes me feel unique and spotlighted.  And regal.  And I only wear all white on my birthday.  It's special.

And then remembering my simple white gown at my wedding, I felt so organically wonderful and simple in that dress that day - I realized I don't need a specific reason to wear all white.

If it makes me feel amazing and important on those special days, what's stopping me from choosing to feel that way any old day?
Nothing...  So I will :)

The streets are pretty busy where I live so sometimes, I prefer to record the various outfits I wear in a bit more peace and privacy and I take a walk upstairs to our outdoor pool area.  I thought this little white dress in particular would pair well with the sunny scenery.

The drape and weight of this dress is very elegant and gives it's playful casual shape more sophistication and formalness.

I've been hovering over the water these days just waiting for the right moment (temperature) to get in and splash around.  Yesterday was NOT that day at all and my feet stung in the picture below as I kicked up the arctic cold water.  The sun is incredibly deceptive here.  I could be sweating under the rays but the water is still sooooooo cold!

I'll give it another month and then I'm diving in!  It is, afterall, still Winter here...

Anyway, I should wear more white.  So I will.

And you should too!
I think P Diddy was on to something awesome with all those all-white parties we used to read about him throwing in the 90s.
All white is so fancy!

Summer Dress = Winter Night Gown

The only thing I don't like about Winter is the short days.  About this time each year, I look forward to going home, cozying down into the couch and and doing the rest of my work there until its time to go to bed.  Don't get me wrong, I love walking through downtown with the glittering lights surrounding me, viewing the new holiday dresses in the windows at Barney's, grabbing a drink with friends in a crowded bar - all that is great during the Winter.  But after rushing around in the cold in my heels all day, its deliciously wonderful to lounge at home during the evenings and holidays.

But what to wear?  Yes, I mean at home - that's a perfectly legitimate question.  You don't really think I'm going to subject my guy to watching me hibernate in an oversize college t-shirt and PINK boxers, do you?  Mama don't run it like that.  I was having a difficult time coming up with comfy yet pretty ensembles to wear around the house (mainly in bed) that weren't dry-clean only.  Lingerie isn't all that warm.  "Cozy" traditional two piece pajamas are not appealing (I'd have to get them tailored with my stature and all) .  And robes don't really "speak" to me....  So while I am still mulling over these important things in life, having the most luxurious attractive nightwear a girl can get (within reason), I've come up with the idea of taking last Summer's maxis and sundresses and recycling them into current Winter night gowns.

My in-laws are always going to the Philippines and they bring back little Summer dresses.  I've started wearing them in the evenings when I get home and wore one practically all day on Thanksgiving.  That's when the realization hit that they act as very attractive night wear.  And if they get stretched out from lounging and sleeping, so what?  They're inexpensive and my Tiny Closet can certainly handle a collection of them each year.

If you like what you see, leave a comment!
