Dress It Up with Eyelet

I've been wearing mens button ups all Summer long and I'm noticing that I've been styling them more and more loosely, open and wrinkled.
I'm just obsessed with that comfy, effortless, messy-chic look!

Projects

We still don't have curtains in our bedroom.  Or in our entire apartment for that matter.  Ah, but we love the light!
When it comes to editing video, photos, and generally using a computer however, we're pretty much blind between the hours of 8am and 3pm.

So, Thursday we finally (begrudgingly) decided it was time for some curtains.   I don't care for curtains.  They tend to look messy no matter how you hang them or what material you use and over time, the pattern or color can make me feel stir crazy.  I love beautiful bare windows - especially against brick, which is coincidentally what we have -
so if I have to cover them up, I decided to make my own.

Being only a few walking blocks away from the garment district and a world of options for, well, anything - Theo and I set out to shop for some chic, simple curtain fabric.

Of course I got super distracted by all the street-side tulle and fabrics for costumes and Quinseanera dresses.  Siiiigh!

chambray: Shades of Grey / pants: All Saints / necklace: Heavenly Couture / smoking shoes:

I also had to pick up the final fabric for a gown I created for a friend.  I am tremendously excited to see how this special project turns out.
And of course, I will be showing it here soon!

Eeeee!

Lunch Break!

After running errands downtown all morning, Theo and I decided to grab lunch in the Exhibition Center.  When we got to the court yard, employees seemed to have flocked from your cubicles to sit in the sun during their lunch.   I hadn't planned to take any photos of my outfit that day but being that it was unbelievably sunny and gorgeous, it inspired my impromptu decision to celebrate my ultra casual attire.

It's amusing to see Seattleites in the sun.  They act like they're at the beach.  Men in business suits were taking off their blazers and laying down, women were taking off their shoes, etc.  Funny.

We waited for everyone to leave and then got to clicking!

Once again, I was wearing Theo's Shades of Grey chambray.  Why do I always borrow it when it's hot outside?  I really do need to get a nice chambray of my own to sweat through.

The classic look of khakis, white tee and an open button up is...classic.  And though I love the classics, I naturally add my own diversion.  Instead of loafers or ballet flats, I chose to go with a pair of leopard spike smoking shoes.  Instead of a just-another-crew-neck tee, I decided to wear a cowl neck top in white linen.  Still ladylike but a bit more adventurous.

Oversize boyfriend watches are incredibly popular right now.  And of course, one would've been right as rain with this ensemble buuuut why copy?  I prefer oversize safari bangles instead.  And my layered coconut necklace fit right in with the other atypical toppings I chose that day as well.

I'll leave the boyfriend watch for an evening gown or something :)

Shoes You Don't Bring Home to Mama

After two weeks of waiting patiently for these babies to arrive, they are finally on my feet where they belong.  My Tiny Closet just got a lil meaner.

Aren't these just deliciously nasty?  Spikes cover every inch of these shoes save the soles.  Under the spikes is horse hair - patterned in leopard print.  Hello!  The best trio of embellishments ever!!

If this shoe were a woman, we'd be best friends.

So I have officially found the perfect flat.  Oddly enough, these monsters are a classic staple.

Since my wardrobe rarely sees color or patterns, these particular flats will go with literally everything,
...which makes my Tiny Closet verrrry happy :)
