At The Beach In a Button Up

Button ups are so versatile.  I feel like they can be worn for every occasion of life.  I especially love mens button ups as they're extra spacious and slouchy looking.

mens shirt: Faconable / bikini top: Target / necklaces: Philippines / shorts: Santee Alley

I've been wearing a lot of button ups lately.  Like everyday.  In fact, the other morning when Theo got an invite to go surfing, while still in bed, I looked down at what I was wearing and said,

"Okay, let me just put on some shorts and I'll be ready..."

Some days I have no interest in dressing.  On those days, I am thankful to have a button up to fall back on.  Even if I've slept in it the night before :)

It was pure coincidence that I went to the beach and wore a bikini top that day under my button up.  I, in fact just didn't have a bra to wear and got creative.  Including adding some rustic, boyish charm with Theo's leather and bone necklaces.  And also his belt.

wedges: Et Fiancees

I slipped on my comfy grey wool Toms but I did have some forethought enough to pack some wedges to wear to lunch later though!

Check out what other peices I've worn with these Summertime wedge sandals:

Just a casual outfit I pulled together to get out the door.
I find the best outfits are the ones you don't even think about.

Harbor Blue

A couple weeks ago, we decided to paint one of the main walls in our bedroom.  With crisp white walls running throughout the loft, I thought a deep dark color to (surprisingly) pop would be best.  I've been trying to find the right moment, as well as the perfect light to show you the finished product...

pssst!  not to mention of course a coordinating ensemble to wear
inspired by the new statement wall!

I fell in love with this Martha Stewart paint - and the color is "Wrought Iron" ... it also looks like a harbor blue though which reminds me of the color of the lakes and harbors around Seattle.
So dark, moody and classic!

I also love the wash of these trusty All Saints drop-crotch denims.  With my striped sailor top I thought it would be fitting for a nautical look.
I actually didn't wear this outfit for long since it reached the 90s yesterday and I wasn't about to let myself sweat in a silk jersey sweater top and heavy coarse denim.
What I thought would be an easy breezy outfit turned out to be hellish and I eventually couldn't wait to take it off!

I am looking forward to wispy jumpers and cooling Summer dresses so keep visiting for more Tiny Closet Summer wear!

Speed Walking In Wedges

Rushing to work yesterday, I asked Theo to gab some quick shots of my hustle.

shirt: PINK / denim: Asos.com / wedges: Et Fiancees / bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB / sunnies: RayBan

This was a simple but changeable ensemble.  In the paper shopper bag, are my Pumas and some socks. My job, while super fun is definitely not glamorous.  So, at work I hang up my button up and sport my James Perse tee, take off the wedges and pop on my Pumas and I'm ready to carry fabric bolts, make runs to the warehouse for orders and cut, cut, cut (pssst, by the way I work at a fabric store).

Then after work, I put back on my wedges, cover my tee with this crisp shirt, throw on my RayBans and I'm back in the world :)

Simple, but it does the duty of making me feel put together and flattering.  Plus, wedges are so much easier to slip on and off at the beginning and end of the day.  And when I'm running late and I don't have time for dainty stepping, a sturdy wedge is comfy enough to strut in speedily!

Layers, Mixes & Game Night!

Lately, I've noticed I've been ditching my minimalist nature and have started leaning towards more mixing and layering.  Eh, it's a passing phase for sure but why fight it?  I'm having so much fun!

And speaking of fun, yesterday evening Theo and I went to a Flight of The Conchords trivia night at Central Cinema.  In a silly rambunctious mood to watch reruns of this beloved show and laugh with the other Conchord nerds, I dove right into the essence of the evening and had some fun with my outfit as well.  Before heading off, we took some impromptu photos of my decision making:
And no, I didn't forget to mention my sexy new wedges!  A birthday gift from my mother.  My Tiny Closet welcomed these babies with open arms.  Keep visiting to see how much mileage I can rack up with these in both versatility and longevity :)  As that is The Tiny Closet way of course.
Yoohoo, and have you seen this muumuu??  I wear this ol' thing everywhere.  You may remember I wore it here.  Yep, even on the other side of the world, I can always think of a reason to where this vibrant piece.  I cinched it with a belt to wear it more as a tunic over my leggings.

leather jacket: Muubaa / denim top: Diesel / muumuu: Philippines / leggings: Gap / wedges: Trouve / tote: gift from a Vince Camuto trunk show
