Makeup & Skincare: A Tiny Routine

It's actually not that Tiny now that I think about it...

In fact, I spend a lot more time and energy on my face care and makeup than I do with my hair.

So for those of you who have asked me about my regimen or have commented that my skin tone is very similar to yours, this lil routine may be worthwhile.  At the least, you can see what products and colors I go to everyday to achieve my particular look.  So without further adieu, I'll give you the diet coke version first:  3 steps!

1. concealer

2. bronzer & blush

3.  mascara

Boom.

Now let me explain....

this is me, no makeup - just a good, hot face wash.  BTW, you'll have to excuse the eyebrows - I am growing them out :(

Anyway, I do the same thing morning and night:

Since my face is used to wetter weather, this new desert scene is really not going over so well.  So I massage a teaspoon of coconut oil all over my face before washing. I use a delicate soap, usually Johnson & Johnson's bath time soap, followed by an intense steam with a wash cloth.
I run the cloth under very hot water!

At night, I use a balm that my mother makes.  It's chock full of amazing ingredients like shea butter, green tea and tea tree oil and has the texture and thickness of lip balm.  Pretty heavy stuff but it gives me quite a baby face in the morning.

In the morning, I use a lighter moisturizer that my mother brews up as well consisting of various oils like vitamin E.  I require a lot of moisture but have little tolerance for parabens and "extras" that usually come with store-bought face creams so this works for me.

So, makeup!  Concealer first.  The below two photos shows my daily blue print to achieve a more even tone.

The left photo below shows me with bronzer and blush.  I take my kabuki brush and bronzer and sweep a ring around my face to create a warmer look.  I follow it with very pink blush on my cheeks, chin and nose.  I love a sun-blasted beach look so I love me some bronzer!

The last step shown in the right photo above is mascara.  For me, mascara makes all the difference between having Disney eyes or stick character eyes.  My lashes, though quite long, are very fine and are virtually invisible without mascara.  So it's a go to for sure!

My Daily Tools:
Bobby Brown and M.A.C. are my main besties.  I have literally tried everything else and nothing else comes close to my skin tone and style.  I love these guys!
concealer: M.A.C. NC45 / concealer brush: e.l.f. / bronzer: Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder Deep 4 / bronzer kabuki brush: e.l.f. / blush: Bobbi Brown Pink Coral #8 / blush brush: M.A.C. 2007 Christmas Edition 168SE /  mascara: Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara (travel size)

Yay, makeup!!

Let's Get Nautical

As always, Weather.com kept their promise and delivered on Sunday.  As 7am approached and I turned over in bed and saw a pure blueing sky I knew it was a perfect day to get nauty.  Oh yeah.

I had mentioned in an earlier post my reservations with StyleMint.com and how disgusted dismayed I was with my first purchase.... and then I washed the ill-fitted top I had carefully picked out online and miraculously, its shape and size fell into place.  Ta-da!  Oy.  And then I also mentioned that I failed to cancel my membership with StyleMint before leaving for Asia so by the time I got back and reviewed my account, I found that I'd racked up some healthy credit that of course was no take-backsies...  Soooo, I begrudgingly used up all the credit, picked some random pieces and called it a day.

And lo and behold, another ta-da miracle.  All the items I had ordered were brilliant!  I was so relieved by the amazing cotton quality, the fit and the design.  Ahh.  My Tiny Closet has warmly welcomed some new favorites :)  Starting with this charming striped number here:
Walking along the water in Kirkland, Theo and I saw a dock full of mini sail boats.  So cute!!  Lil sailboats built for two.  They were actually rentals for public sailing lessons, which, in theory, would have been cool to take a lesson except for the fact that sailing is probably as fun as parallel parking a semi truck.  I much rather prefer riding in sailboats than concerning myself with their mechanics. I also like taking pictures in front of them :)
dress: StyleMint / scarf: Diesel / shoes: CMG / bag: Dooney & Bourke / bracelets and watch: thrifted / hat: Philippines / sunnies: RayBan / earrings: B.P. Nordstrom / lipstick: M.A.C. Red

I never wear red, even on my lips - but the navy stripes on this new frock were too fresh to pass on the inevitable duo of nautical-flair-blue-and-white with crisp red accenting.

Sitting in a boat, thinking about boat things, I realized this dress is the only boatneck item I have.  Because I have such a narrow small face (sigh) I stick to only wearing scoop and cowl necks.  Oddly enough, narrow scoop necks compliment my facial structure.  I hiss at v-necks.  But whadya know, I've discovered boat necks are my besties as well.  I will keep my eyes peeled for more boat necks.  I very much like the classic line they tend to give to the neck and shoulder area.  While we're on the subject, I fancy boats as well.

Before I rouged up my lips and went on my jaunt through the docks, Theo and I had a delicious breakfast at Cafe Soleil in Madrona. Amazing potatoes and tons of cute fashionable girls in stylish brunch attire.  Wow.  I was so inspired.

Okay, I always have high hopes to take impeccable pictures of the fabulous places Theo and I eat at but ya know, when the food shows up, I just can't be bothered with a camera.  One of these days, I will exercise some restraint and take some mouth-watering photos of the food I eat but until then, this is what I got so far...
For the record, it was delicious.

Have a wonderful week!

I Can't Stand The Rain

...Against my window

Last night, the rain outside sounded like a dam opening.  Not used to it.

It's been raining all week and will continue until the week is through.  And this aint' Seattle drizzle-all-day-til-you-could-slit-your-wrists rain, this is torrential, biblical rain, okay people?!  Wow.  But since the locals are carrying on as usual, so will I.

Let's take some pictures, shall we?
What's amazing about storms here is the sky and the beach are both still so bright!  Its raining and I still need my Raybans.  Even though my face is much darker than normal, I can still wear my signature satin finish M.A.C. Red.
This linen dress I found at a dress hut and there are literally hundreds of these huts everywhere I have gone.  My self control for Summer dresses is slowly deteriorating.
My head scarf is the end remnant of another white linen dress that I got from the same hut.  When it comes to white linen, I'm like P Diddy - I have to wear it!  My earrings from H&M are still kickin it.  I really can wear them anywhere.
I hope you had a wonderful Valentines Day and spent it with the people you love.  I had wanted to act out that famous lusty scene from the movie "From Here to Eternity" but thoughts of sandy salt water in my mouth and up my *ahem* made me skip it in the end.

Happy Valentines Day :)
