My Fall Jacket...

Around this time of year, I can't fake the chill on the blog.  There is none.  Well, not really.
An oversize sweater works at night and light Fall/Summer wear during the day hours.  It's just not cold.

While walking through The Grove a few days ago, I overheard some girls lamenting over sweater season and how much money they waisted buying sweaters they wouldn't wear but had to have.  I feel ya, ladies!

All these gorgeous peacoats and cute bombers in the store windows and I'd be sweating within minutes if I tried to wear any of them.
But I want one!!  Alas, like I've said before,

"My Tiny Closet is no museum.  Clothes were meant to be worn, not hung to look pretty and collect dust!"

Hmmmm, but I am planning to visit Seattle pretty soon so maybe I can reason one lil cute Winter coat, yes?

Anyway, I do love jackets and I find them more feasible than a full on coat.  Especially this completely sheer, lacy jacket.
Layered over my tunic button-up, its the just the right amount of warmth I need.  Because I don't need much.

And on another note, I got my hair cut at a salon for the first time in years.  The cut was not to take off length but to fix all the style cutting I've done myself throughout the years.  Do you like it?  Maybe you can't tell...  Anyway, I got it done at Devachan (the only place I trust to cut my 4a/b(c?) hair).  The reason I chose to have it done pro was because I decided I'm going to let my tiny lil curls shrink up as much as they want these days.  Let shrinkage reign!

So with a pro design cut, it'll look great no matter if I stretch em' or let em' shrink up.  That was becoming a problem before.  I used to style cut my hair stretched.  And when it shrank, it looked pretty bad.  Now, a lot of people ask me if I've cut my hair... do you get that when your hair shrinks??  I'm guessing you do.  Well, I've just been letting it happen.  Tis what it is.  I like the effortlessness of it and come wash time, it's a lot less tangled.  Well, whatdya know!  Anyway, just thought I'd share :)

Now, back to scrolling coats on Pinterest...
happiest of Mondays to you, loves!

Play Date

Last week, Theo and I decided to revisit Long Beach, the area where we stayed when the idea to move to California first hatched....

It had been very shortly after our wedding and, feeling a bit reminiscent and romantic, we took the day to eat at one of our favorite diners,
play our favorite arcade game on the boardwalk and catch up with one another.

I designed a simple white tank dress the night before just for the occasion, actually.  I wanted something fitted, comfy, casual but (gasp) NOT jersey.  Jersey and double knit is my go-to fabiric.  But this fabric I came across is luscious - I wish you could feel it!  It's thick so I didn't have the need for a bra, but it was also weighted perfectly for a great drape.

Anyway, I liked it.

As some of you already know, I quite fancy wearing white - especially on special occasions.  And that day was really a special one.
So happy I could whip up that LWD in time because Theo loved it!  Hope you like it too :)

Surprise!

A few months ago, Redbook magazine contacted me, asking if I'd like to be in their July issue for a lil spread on white dresses....  Oh, would I!!

What a treat!

Remember this Catherine Malandrino dress from my favorite thrift store?  I've adored this dress since the moment I spied it on the rack.  I am so happy and not to mention, incredibly flattered that Redbook liked it too!  Enough to put me and my pup in their issue!!

And check out the amazing company I'm in...  These ladies are rocking out the LWD for sure.

Sooooo, pick yourself up a copy of the newest issue when you can.  Jada's on the cover - it's a good one.

Thank you, Redbook for this print!

And speaking of things I adore  - I actually only wear clothing I absolutely love, as this is the Tiny Closet lifestyle.  So of course, I also adore this striped dress.  I debuted this big ol' Tiny Closet Collection dress a couple months ago with my trusty oxfords and red lipstick.  But since I've been trying to slow my roll these days, I've been wearing it around the house a lot.

The sumptuous jersey I chose for this dress is sooooooo cozy!  I can lounge out and I can lounge in.

Win win.

So after my roomie surprised me with the issue Thursday evening, I was on cloud nine as I curled up with a movie and some random champagne I found in the fridge.

I've been completely without conditioner the past few days and my hair has been HATING me for it.  I muffled it's frizzy screams with a leopard turban.  Perhaps you remember this turban from the post I did a while ago here?  Last night was leopard and stripes.  Mama like.

The combo works, yes?  No?  Maybe?

Anyway, I'll be catching up with everything this weekend and joining you on the flipside come Monday.

I've actually got a few more awesome surprises coming soon so please keep visiting to find out what's next!
It's hard keeping all these exciting secrets to myself!

Enjoy your weekend :)

Just Add Leather

This recent purchase I made, a flirty chic white dress with dolman sleeves, was planned to be a hot little Summer dress for happy hour and dinner dates.  Shame on me for only thinking I'd wear it with some sandals and a glam belt and that would be that... I mean this is The Tiny Closet.  And this dress is meant for more.

Since it's been cold and cloudy lately, I thought I'd add some thicker elements to this light piece.

Some leather here, some leather there and here I am!

Feeling warmer but still Summery I'd say, yes?

The leather toppings I chose was a graphite motor jacket, a leather covered spike belt and....

leather jacket: Muubaa / dress: Fluxxus / belt: Forever 21 / heels: thrifted / sunnies: RayBan

My faithful cowgirl-esque, bootie-like heels :)

The moment this downer weather clears and the sun really starts beating down, I will have to show you the swimsuits I've been putting together.
I went to three different places in search of the perfect two piece.  Mixing and matching!

Keep visiting to see the outcome of my pursuits!
